If you have decided to break up because of your career, or because you have a new job, here is a simple template you can use to write a letter for breaking up because of a new job.
Dearest [name],
This is not something I have been looking forward to doing. Unfortunately, we have to go our separate ways. I know you are in a lot of pain but this is the best decision for both of us. The reason why I’m doing this is because I have been offered a career-defining job. It is a job I have wanted for so long so I can’t possibly decline it.
As I start this new career, don’t think that I will forget all the times we spent with each other. Yes, all those great memories will forever remain with me. When we were together, you motivated me to do my best. As we approach the next chapter in our lives, I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me. I doubt I will find someone like you in the future. However, this is goodbye for now.
